Department of Sociology
The Department is committed to nurturing socially aware students with a critical understanding of societal issues. Our Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (NEP) offers a strong foundation in the historical development of sociology, the diverse and evolving nature of social issues in Indian society, and the theoretical and scientific approaches that define the discipline. Students are trained to develop analytical skills that help them explore socio-political, economic, religious, and cultural realities from multiple perspectives—moving beyond surface-level understanding. To support this, our teaching goes beyond traditional lectures. We actively involve students in assignments, presentations, group discussions, and field-based projects to strengthen both their academic knowledge and real-world insight. We are proud to share that, in a short time, many of our students have excelled not only academically, but also in creative arts, sports, and social initiatives. As a result, the Department sees a growing number of enrolments each year. Our vibrant team of faculty members, with diverse research interests and teaching experience, makes the Department a dynamic and enriching academic space within the college. We also bagged the BEST DEPARTMENT AWARD on College Week, 2026. We warmly welcome all interested students to join our department and embark on a journey to explore the world through fresh, interpretative perspectives.
